The mission of OBT is to be the scientific and technological leader in the use of Remote Sensing and Geoprocessing, acquiring a better knowledge of the Brazilian territory and continental sea, in five areas of performance:

  • To be a center of international reference in the specification techniques, evaluation and use of Remote Sensing imaging systems for the tropical area.

  • To support the Brazilian space program in the conception, processing and applications of the earth observation satellites, with emphasis in the CBERS and MAPSAR programs.

  • To be a center of international reference in the development of free software in Image Processing and Geoprocessing.

  • To maintain a center for generation and diffusion of earth observation satellite images for the Brazilian society.

  • To be a center of international reference in the environmental modeling of Brazilian ecosystems area.

 

The Remote Sensing Data Center is making available on the Internet the historic database of images received at the Cuiabá station.
